These revolutionary crib mattresses allow your baby to breathe freely through the open-celled sleep surface even if they are face straight down. The side openings allow air to constantly circulate protecting your baby from harmful carbon dioxide accumulation. The 3D open-celled sleep surface helps keep an infants core temperature stable. Not too hot, and not too cold, resulting in a longer, safer, more comfortable sleep for your baby. The crib mattress sleep surface can be easily removed and laundered in a standard washer and dryer providing a more sanitary sleeping environment for your baby. There is no inner core, so no messy or cumbersome bathtub washing. The base is easily wiped clean while still in the crib.
The SafeSleep and Heaven Sent Breathe-Through Crib Mattresses are designed to fit in any standard size crib. They drop into a crib just like a conventional crib mattress. Actual size of base is 50-7/8″ x 27-1/4″ x 5-1/2. The Mini Breathe-Through Crib Mattress fits into any mini crib requiring a 24” x 38” crib mattress. The Mini Breathable Crib Mattress drops into a mini crib easily. Actual size of mini base is 36-3/4″ x 23-1/8″ x 4-1/2″.
These revolutionary Breathe-through Crib Mattresses have the same amount of deflection as a standard firm crib mattress. The Secure Beginnings’ crib mattresses are the only U.S. crib mattresses that have passed the Australia/New Zealand standard for firmness. Because of the revolutionary patented design, the sleep surface holds its firmness and can be safely used for generations.
The sleep surfaces is made from a 3D medical grade spacer fabric manufactured in the USA. The middle layer of the spacer fabric forms a “micro-climate” which allows heat and vapor to dissipate next to the body; however, the heat is channeled into the middle layer, keeping the baby warm, while helping to maintain a stable body core temperature for a better, longer, safer night’s sleep.
The Breathe-Through Crib Mattress contains no harmful chemicals such as phthalates, antimony and various biocides found in conventional and organic crib mattresses. There are also no nano-coatings to make them waterproof, and no chemicals to make them flame retardant. There is no reason to make these breathe-Through mattresses waterproof since they contain no fiber fill that can become contaminated. They are naturally flame retardant by design.
There is no fill or core. The sleep surface is stretched taut over the stainless-steel bars and the only thing beneath the sleep surface is air. There is nothing to remove below the sleep surface to wash or to become contaminated. Crib mattresses with hollow cores and plant based cores that claim to be breathable have been shown to trap harmful levels of carbon dioxide.
Yes. The raised side is a welting that is 1 1/8 inch in diameter. It is filled with the same fabric used to make medical masks. It is also round to prevent face compression. It is also attached so there is no strangulation risk.
You will need to check with your insurance provider, but some insurance companies have reimbursed along with Medicare.
Yes, if you want a spare sleep surface we sell them as separates. We have lots of colors to choose from. You can also purchase a new sleep surface when the next baby arrives to make your Breathe-Through Crib Mattress just like new.
The revolutionary 3D fabric of the sleep surface dries super quick. You can pour water on the sleep surface and it will dry by air in 3 minutes or less. You can also purchase an additional sleep surface for late night changes.
No, the sleep surface will remain taut and firm provided you wash the sleep surface every couple of weeks. Use a medium heat setting.
With proper care, your mattress will last for generations.
Simply add a ½ cup of bleach in the wash machine prior to placing the sleep surface in for washing. Let it soak for 10 to 15 minutes and complete wash cycle.
Because we use all high-end parts. We use solid woods (maple and poplar), because press board has formaldehyde and is a known toxin. We use all stainless-steel hardware so there is no breakage. We know the stainless steel will stand the test of time. We use a plastic that is 10x the cost of a normal plastic because it has no off-gassing and it is non-corrosive. It is the same plastic use for children’s toothbrushes. The 3D spacer fabric that we use is also 10x more expensive than a normal single weave fabric. We use this fabric because of its wonderful attributes; passive airflow, climate control, quick drying, and natural wicking process. It is the same fabric used for high-end tennis shoes that cost $100 and up. It takes a month for the fabric to be woven in 1000 yard lots. All of our products are made in the USA and all the labor money we pay is going to US families. We could use less expensive parts, but our first priority is “safety.” Our mattress can be used for generations. People have sold the mattress for at least ½” of what they paid for it. They do retain their value.
The Breathe-through Crib Mattress has been tested to hold up to 80 pounds (the weight of an average 10-year-old). Your child will become too tall for the mattress before they become too heavy for it. Both the SafeSleep and Heaven Sent Breathe-through Crib Mattresses easily transition to a toddler bed.
There is a polypropylene plastic bottom 5 inches below the sleep surface. This surface is easily wiped cleaned and disinfected with a mild soap and cloth. This area is very easily accessible by simply lifting the bars the sleep surface is around. There is no core, so no need to ever have to remove the mattress until its time to adjust the height settings on your crib.
No. The plastic bottom is made from recycled milk jugs. It is a polypropylene #5 which is the same plastic used for children’s toothbrushes. The bottom has a slight texture to keep liquids pooled.
The SafeSleep Breathable Crib Mattress is innovatively designed to be the safest crib mattress available on the market today for your baby. It replaces foam and cotton filled mattresses with a comfortable, completely breathe-through medical grade spacer fabric surface suspended over a solid wood frame with openings on the sides allowing constant air circulation. The SafeSleep Breathe-Through Crib Mattress base is made from solid poplar and is available in three painted finishes; white, gray, and espresso. It is also available in solid maple with a clear finish. The SafeSleep comes with your choice of eight different sleep surface colors. Additional sleep surfaces may be purchased separately.
The Mini Breathe-Through Crib Mattress shares all the same safety, convenience, and comfort, benefits and features as both the SafeSleep, and Heaven Sent Breathe-through Crib Mattresses. The Mini is just a smaller size. The Mini Breathe-through Crib Mattress fits snugly in a 24” x 38” mini crib.
The Breathe-Through Crib Mattress sleep surface has an integrated welting designed to prevent your baby’s extremities from entanglement in the crib slats. We do not recommend using any type of crib bumper since all crib bumpers, even the breathable ones, can pose a strangulation risk if your baby gets wedged under the bumper.
No. The Breathe-through Crib Mattress is designed to allow your baby to sleep directly on the comfy sleep surface. No crib sheet or mattress pad is needed. Mattress pads can artificially elevate a baby’s body temperature and can cause overheating. They also pose a positional asphyxiation risk, and they can pose strangulation and suffocation risk if they become loose.
Yes. The Breathe-through Crib Mattress drop into a standard size crib or mini crib just like a conventional crib mattress and accommodates a crib skirt.
The sleep surface is easily removed by lifting the sidebars on the crib mattress, unzipping the surface and pulling it up and off the frame. The sleep surface is easily replaced by fitting the surface over the bars when in the upright position, zipping the surface closed on the underside and then securely fastening the sidebars into their lowered position with the automatic locking mechanism.
If you find your sleep surface is too tight, simply unzip the underside of the sleep surface from 1/4 to 1/3 of the way open to reduce some of the tension. Unzipping the sleep surface this slight amount will not affect the safety or comfort of your baby.
The bar’s locking mechanism is a high-end, industrial strength, spring loaded ball catch that can be tightened or loosened. Simply turn the screws on both sides of the lock to the right to tighten with the screwdriver provided. The screw only requires a very slight turn to the right to tighten. You should be able to see the two silver balls inside the lock move slightly together. The welting along the outside edge will not allow the bars to spring open when the mattress is in the crib.
It is best to pull up on the bars to release by grabbing the integrated welting in the center by the white tabs which are positioned at the lock. If the bars do not release from the lock, simply push the flat head of the screwdriver, provided, through the locks center and push up on the screwdriver. You will then want to adjust the lock by turning the screws on each side of the lock to the left slightly to loosen. You should be able to see the two silver balls inside the lock move slightly outward.
The sleep surface can be washed as often as required using a standard washer and dryer. It is recommended that you wash the sleep surface separately and use a mild detergent safe for baby’s delicate skin. You can also use bleach to remove stains. Bleach is not recommended for every wash. Drying the sleep surface on medium heat will kill pathogens. Do not use dryer sheets if your baby has sensitive skin.
No. The area beneath the crib mattress sleep surface is intended to allow constant passive airflow and should not be obstructed with blankets or other stored items.
Yes. The sensor pad fits between the two fabric layers of the sleep surface.
